Samson's Strength by frizguru Samson's Strength by frizguru
Here is the strength of Samson. His body is very weirdly shaped and needs work. Oh well, just a sketch. His hair is really messy which works into the fact it was haphazardly cut while he was sleeping.

Part of the Sketch Bible. See more here: [link]

Bible stories do not require "great" artwork to get the point across. My recommendation is that you leave him just as he is. His seven locks would still be messy even after they had grown back as, like you said, it was haphazardly cut.

As for his body and lack of visible arms; no change is needed. This is something even I struggle with all the time. I try to include every detail, and forget that the viewer can fill in those white spaces where, say, a character's arms would be. His broken chains and hands on those crashing pillars tell the story very well. The result is a foregone conclusion. I love that he looks quite unconcerned for his own safety. Destroying that Babylonian temple was more important, and he was quite happy to do so.

What a worthy project you are doing: The Sketch Bible.

Thanks for the comment! This is probably one of the most useful and honest comments I've gotten yet on one of my pieces. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was doing it in the sense of having it geared or little kids so the subpar details worked well so they did not detract from the story since the story is the most important thing here. I have a set of these sketches for various stories that follow the same style. Thanks for the watch, and I can't wait to see what you have to say about future projects!

I seem to have really chatty fingers. I'm posting everywhere, and in detail.

I'm--kinda speechless with your opening statement. wow. Thank you.
